Dedicated to India’s former president and one of the remarkable scientists the country has ever produced, GIIS offers the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship, also popularly known as Dr. Abdul Kalam Scholarship.
This scholarship is offered to tech-savvy students who want to create a name for themselves in the digital space and further pursue their interests. Dr. Abdul Kalam Scholarship is a one-of-a-kind scholarship award that recognizes talented young students who show a natural inclination towards gadgets, digital tools, and applications from an early age. Therefore, such students get the right platform and support from an early age to become proficient in their respective interest areas.
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship is available for students from Grade 6-12 in GIIS schools in Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore, and Noida. The scholarship is provided for one year, and students can apply for renewal subject to meeting the eligibility requirements.

Financial assistance: The scholarship provides financial aid to students, helping them realize their true potential and pursue their dreams. The scholarship value is classified into three categories based on the student’s participation and performance at international, national, or regional forums:
- Category A: For students with National Rank amongst top 10 students at the SOF/STEM Olympiad/Robotics Olympiad; or 1st, 2nd or 3rd position holder nationally at National Children’s Science Congress’s annual competition. These students are eligible for a 9% waiver on tuition fees.
- Category B: For students with National Rank amongst top 20 students at the SOF/STEM Olympiad/Robotics Olympiad; or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd position holder at the state level in the National Children’s Science Congress’s annual competition. Such students get a 6% waiver on tuition fees.
- Category C: For students with National Rank amongst top 30 students at the SOF/STEM Olympiad/Robotics Olympiad; or among top 10 Rankers at any national/ international competitions conducted by IT giants such as Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Intel. etc. (particularly Google Science Fair); or among top 10 Rankers at international/national/state-level Robot Olympiad; or be part of ranked two teams at ISRO Space Quiz, NSS-National Space settlement. This category is eligible for a 3% waiver on tuition fees.
Eligibility and scholarship process: Only Indian citizens who can produce valid proof of the paper, thesis, publication, tool, application, etc. related to Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Coding, VR, BlockChain and similar fields are eligible to apply. These students need to submit academic records of the previous two years and appear for a scholarship test and interview (if required). The scholarship process involves five steps:
- Submission of online application. Need to upload required documents (academic records and research papers/ thesis/ other published documents).
- Shortlisted students are notified through email within ten working days.
- Appearing for a scholarship assessment.
- Appearing for a personal interview round with scholarship committee members, if required.
- The scholarship is disbursed to selected candidates after qualifying through all the previous steps.
